Viscosity and rheology are monitored for quality control, consistency and pharmacopoeial regulations during formulation of ointments and gels. The value of Newtonian fluid is one in which the viscosity does not change with shear rate and time. The best example of Newtonian liquid is water.

The present invention relates to electrotheological semisolids having theological characteristics changeable by an application of electric potential difference.

The temperature, concentration and pH variables influence the aqueous dispersion of the gum properties.
