All ideas or theories of art seem to be intimately related to the notion of ultimate reality in any given philosophy or culture, as well as to the mode of knowing that reality. In other words, the ideas or theories of art seem to be determined by the metaphysical assumption about reality and the epistemological attitude appropriate for understanding or knowing that reality.
