What is the toolkit and how does it work?

Have you ever felt like stress, anxiety, depression, or anger was controlling you? Or do you feel disconnected from your feelings and emotionally numb? These can all be signs that you need to work on building your emotional intelligence EQ. This toolkit will show you how. The toolkit is based on the recent transformations that have taken place in the field of psychology. Emotion is now at the heart of clinical theory and is seen as the foundation to psychological change.

The datasets analyzed in the current study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request. Music is a ubiquitous phenomenon in human cultures, mostly due to its power to evoke and regulate emotions. However, effects of music evoking different emotional experiences such as sadness and happiness on cognition, and in particular on self-generated thought, are unknown. Here we use probe-caught thought sampling and functional magnetic resonance imaging fMRI to investigate the influence of sad and happy music on mind-wandering and its underlying neuronal mechanisms. In three experiments we found that sad music, compared with happy music, is associated with stronger mind-wandering Experiments 1A and 1B and greater centrality of the nodes of the Default Mode Network DMN Experiment 2. Thus, our results demonstrate that, when listening to sad vs. Importantly, our results also underscore that DMN activity can be modulated as a function of sad and happy music.

While emotions and feelings are quite different, we all use the words interchangeably to more or less explain the same thing — how something or someone makes us feel. Imagine this: You sprint through the airport, on the run to catch your flight. Before you can say anything, you tear up overwhelmed with excitement and forget about the rush while you give your friend a firm hug.

I explicate the emotion-feeling distinction in modern terms distinguishing mood as well , and urge that the expression of feeling is too central to be waived off as outside the proper philosophical subject of artistic expression. Restricting the discussion to the art of painting and drawing , I sketch a partial psychological model for the exrtistic expression of feelipression of feeling. We must not suppose that we first have a disembodied feeling, and then set out to find an embodiment adequate to it. In a word, imaginative expression creates the feeling in creating its embodiment, and the feeling so created cannot be otherwise expressed, but cannot otherwise exist, that in and through the embodiment which imagination has found for it.
